Rational Publishing Engine year 2016 retrospective
Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) had a very productive and successful 2016 year. I want to reflect on top three accomplishments during the year and let you know how you can engage with us going forward.Started with the RPE 2.1 release, which delivered a simpler way to create new templates. Users have the ability to use MS Word documents as the starting point of their RPE template creation process. RPE will convert the MS Word structure and a subset of the formatting into an RPE template. I suggest that youwatch a video of the word importer to learn how you can take advantage of this great improvement. For other exciting RPE 2.1 features, you can read announcement details here . Published the Rational Publishing Engine Jazz.net page as your starting point to get up-to-date information about all your document generation needs. You can learn about RPE’s new and exciting features, find links to videos, download latest software, and much more. Over the coming months, we will be publishing a series of blog posts on various RPE topics on new enhancements, “how to” articles, and customer stories. So, I advise you to check out the page and come back often. Released RPE 2.1.1 in December, 2016. Focus in this release was to improve RPE template designer experience with features such as drag and drop support for creating templates from web resource URLs like graphical report URLs from Jazz Reporting Service Report Builder and communication diagram and object model diagram URLs fromDesign Management. If you still like to read announcements, RPE 2.1.1 details can be foundhereand for more visual individuals, we have RPE 2.1.1 videos with the top new enhancements.
Are you using RPE for the first time or looking for a refresher on RPE capabilities? I recommend watching the updated RPE overview video.
Let me share a tip that users often find useful. The Jazz.netMy Stuff page allows you tofind work items you submitted or subscribed to, as well asaccess to different IBM Rational development teams. For example, if you want to submit a new work item for RPE, you can click on “Submit a bug” on theMy Stuff page, then select the RPE project to open a new defect. This gives you a direct link to development activities and lets you become an active part of our development by providing us input on your experience, issues you discover, etc.
Last, but not the least, I invite you to check out and post your RPE comments/questions on thejazz.net forum (using the rpe tag).
For the whole team,
