How to Pin Steam Games in Windows 10
Starting with windows 8 and continuing into Windows 10, app shortcuts can be pinned to both the Start Menu and the Taskbar. This feature is extremely useful for apps that you use on a regular basis, and you should be making use of it if you aren’t already.
But if you play games through Steam, you’ve probably noticed that Steam games can’t be pinned ― even if you “create a shortcut” to that game from your Steam library.
This is because Steam-created shortcuts are actually internet link shortcuts. These work fine on your desktop because when you double-click them, the shortcut link is interpreted by Windows as a steam:// link, which is run through the Steam app itself to determine which game should be launched.
But internet link shortcuts aren’t pinnable, which means you need to use another method to create game shortcuts that are pinnable:In Steam, right-click the game and select Properties . Navigate to the Local Files tab and click Browse Local Files . Look for the game’s main EXE file. If you don’t see it, it may be located in a subfolder. (For example, I had to look inside the bin folder to find Luftrausers.exe .) Right-click the EXE file and select Create shortcut . Rename the shortcut to whatever you want it to say when pinned. Right-click the shortcut and either Pin to Start or Pin to taskbar .
Once it’s pinned, you can delete the shortcut.
